Green Sea Turtle no longer endangered in the Paciffic Coast

The green sea turtle one of the best known species and loved by the general public of the coastal regions of Mexico  finally decree and outside endangered by the US Fish and Marine Life. A story that has brought joy to the protectionist community of Puerto Vallarta, where several restoration initiatives are carried out for the species.


This species was about to officially be declared extinct when the numbers of specimens and nests reached a critical low in the 80s, product of hunting, fishing and stealing eggs from local coasts.

In Puerto Vallarta, shelters were established in spawning points for the turtles and provided nest protection, several hotels in the region were participants in these programs of protection and deliverance, involving tourists and locals in this activity and raising awareness of the damage dealt to marine fauna.
