Caroline Wozniacki says she’ll finish 2010 as number one

– Danish tennis player defeated Francesca Schiavone on Thursday 3-6, 6-1, 6-1 in the Masters at Doha.

Wozniacki, the first Danish tennis player to become a number one, needed two wins at the tournament that delivers 4.55 million U.S. dollars and closes the season in the capital of Qatar, to ensure that Russia’s Vera Zvonareva would not snatch the top position.

After passing smoothly through the Elena Dementieva first match of the Garnet Group, Wozniacki suffered a surprise defeat on Wednesday against Stosur, giving hope to Zvonareva.

However, the 20-year player made no mistake against Schiavone, who won the French Open.

Wozniacki has obtained six titles this season and entered the number one ranking earlier this month after reaching the quarterfinals of the China Open, a tournament she ended up winning.
