Islas Marietas, the wonderful tropical paradise in the region of Vallarta, was declared as closed for public the past fortnight by the environmental authorities in order to protect the flora and fauna of the region, threatened by the human activity in the beach. This measure has been revised this week considering the huge impact this would have on the local tourism industry.
The Marietas are now declared open for public, however Playa Escondida or Lover’s Beach has been declared off limits as measures to repair damaged to the coral reef in the area are taken. Authorities have announced that this measure will be held until further noticed as the damage caused to the environment is extensive and will take time to be repaired. (Source of the New)
