Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic once again in Basel tournament finals

– Federer and Djokovic will meet once again meet in the tournament finals, just like last year.

Federer will face Novak Djokovic in a repetition of last year’s final after the Serbian, ranked number 3, beat fellow Victor Troicki 7-6, 6-4. Troicki squandered three chances to win the first set.

Federer and Roddick met for the first time since their epic five-set final at Wimbledon last year, but this was all pretty easy for the Swiss Federer. “It seems that things always go well for me when I play with Andy,” Federer told journalists.

The Swiss also referred to Sunday’s match against Djokovic. “It will be a tough final (…) especially on a fast court. It’s going to be very physical,” he added.

Roddick struggled with his service at all times and lost his serve in the second game, allowing Federer to take control of the match. Federer saved two break points in the fifth game before connecting four aces in a row in the following game.

The Swiss sealed the set with a stunning forehand from the baseline to break Roddick’s service again. But Federer continued to show irregularity and lost his service early in the second set. But Roddick’s recovery ended in the sixth game when his serve got him into trouble again, and although he saved two break points, he missed a backhand that allowed Federer to equal the set at 3-3.

Federer broke again in the tenth game and sealed the game in his first match point with an unstoppable cross shot winner.
