– Defending champion Italy arrived this Wednesday to South Africa for the World Cup.
The “Azzurra” plane arrived in Johannesburg airport around 09:00 (0700 GMT) after a flight of about nine hours from Milan.
Italy is staying at the hotel Leriba in Centurion, near Pretoria, and is training at the Southdowns College in Irene, the same place where they stayed last year in the Confederations Cup.
A group of 12 security officers accompanied the team from Italy, and have the support from approximately 30 South African police.
Italy begin their World Cup tour on Monday in Cape Town against Paraguay. They will also play against New Zealand and Slovakia in the Soccer World Cup’s F Group.
