Emma Watson “felt ill” when learning about her fortune
- The ‘Harry Potter’ actress Emma Watson said that for years she had no idea how much money she had earned as her character Hermione Granger in the hit franchise, and she felt ill when she finally found out.
Watson, 20, told the British edition of the magazine ‘Vogue’ for the December issue, that she was 17 or 18 when she had ‘a money talk’ with her father.
“During the third or fourth movie, the money started becoming (…) real serious. I had no idea. I felt bad, very moved. It was really a shock,” she said.
Until then she had received an allowance $80 allowance weekly. She took a course on money management and now has an estimated fortune of around 20 million pounds ($32 million dollars).
Watson, currently a student at Brown University in the United States is on the cover of the British edition of Vogue showing off her new “pixie” style haircut. The actress said she cut her hair after finishing the shooting of the last two films in the ‘Harry Potter’ series.
“‘During the nine years I was in ‘Harry Potter’ I was bound by contract not to cut my hair, or tan myself,” she said. “All the normal things that women do, I could not. Then when I had the opportunity to change my appearance, this is what I did,” she added.
The seventh film, ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1′ premieres in Britain, America and much of the world on 19 November.
The last part will hit cinemas in July 2011.
