Alonso wins the Singapore Formula 1 Grand Prix
- Fernando Alonso is currently in second place in the championship, 11 points behind Australia’s Mark Webber from the Red Bull team.
It was a perfect weekend that led Fernando Alonso to victory, a pole position and the fastest lap at the Grand Prix race in Singapore helped the Spanish place in second place in World Formula One championship this year.
Following the night race at Singapore’s street circuit, the Australian Mark Webber (Red Bull) continues as championship leader and increases the gap, with the runner-up Alonso, to eleven points from the previous weekend when the difference was only five points from Lewis Hamilton (McLaren).
Webber now leads with 202 points, followed by Alonso in second with 191, and Hamilton, third with 182, while the fourth place is the German Sebastian Vettel (Red Bull) with 181 and fifth place has Briton Jenson Button (McLaren) with 177.
Hamilton has been the main victim in the last races, for second race in a row and third of the last four grand prix he has not been able to add any points as he has had to retire.
